Roof repair work and some common misconceptions

Roofing FAQ’s

My roof leaks - do I need a new one?
Most roofs can be fixed up by an experienced roof tiler

I’ve been told my tiles are porous? What can I do?
Your concrete tiles are not porous enough to leak by themselves. Leaking is usually caused by something more than just the tiles, say, incorrect fitting, cracked tiles or leaking pointing

Will my insurance company pay for roof work if I get a roof leak?
If you’ve maintained your roof to a good standard and you get a storm then there’s a good chance your insurance company will cover the work. However, no maintenance for years and your claim will be denied. The interior work will be covered but not the roof itself.

Keep your roof well maintained. An experienced roofing insurance inspector will know in an instant if your roof has been left un maintained for years. He will know just looking at a cracked tile how long its been cracked for and if this coincides with recent storms that you might be making a claim for!
